Are Online Prescriptions Valid?

Weight Loss Program FAQs
Can I get a script online without seeing a Doctor in person?

Yes! In Australia, you can get an online script through a telehealth consultation without visiting a doctor in person. For common health issues, you can request a prescription online without seeing a doctor in person or at the clinic. With Aloha Telehealth, simply request a script, and an AHPRA-registered medical practitioner can assess your request and issue an instant script if suitable. To be eligible to receive an ePrescription token, your details must be correct in your Instant Consult profile and you must have a valid IHI Number with the Department of Human Services. Your IHI Number is automatically generated from your Medicare details. If you do not have a Medicare card, you can obtain your IHI Number through your MyGov account or by visiting: https://servicesaustralia.gov.au/how-to-get-individual-healthcare-identifier

How do I fill my online script?

Once you’ve completed your consult with the AHPRA-registered doctor, and they’ve determined it’s suitable, you’ll get your prescription sent  to your phone via SMS.

‍Once you receive your online script, you can get your medicine from  your local pharmacy. It’s that simple!

Can I request a repeat script?

Yes, you can request to renew your repeat prescription after an online consultation with our medical practitioner. The decision to renew Prescriptions online is made at the discretion of the medical practitioner, tailored to your specific condition and needs.

What medications can't be Prescribed?

The decision to prescribe medication depends on the consulting health practitioner’s assessment of your condition. While many medications can be prescribed online, some, such as sedatives or certain S8-classified medicines, may not be issued.

Prescriptions are issued at the discretion of the medical practitioner, who determines the best course of action. GPs and Nurse Practitioners are unable to prescribe schedule 8 medicines and schedule 4D medicines via a telehealth consultation. Schedule 8 and Schedule 4D medicines include, but are not limited to:

Schedule S8: Alprazolam, Buprenorphine, Dexamphetamine, Fentanyl, Hydromorphone, Lis-dexamphetamine, Methadone, Methylphenidate, Morphine, Oxycodone, Tapentadol, and Pethidine.

Schedule 4D: Benzodiazepines (Clonazepam, Diazepam, Oxazepam, Temazepam), Phentermine, Pregabalin, Testosterone, Modafinil, Zolpidem, and Zopiclone.

What would I do if I did not receive the online script the medical practitioner agreed to issue?

If our medical practitioner agrees to issue the instant script online, you should receive it via SMS or email within 15 minutes. In case you haven’t received it, you can contact our support team info@alohatelehealth.com.au  or call 0406173237 and raise a query. We will get back to you at the earliest and ensure your prescription is sent to you.

Will online scripts be accepted by the pharmacist?

Yes, you can use scripts online in NSW, QLD, VIC, SA, ACT, WA, NT and across most of the pharmacies in all Australian states & territories. The pharmacies are equipped to dispense medicines using electronic prescriptions. The prescription token will be directly sent to you via SMS or mobile which you can then use to get your medicines from anywhere in Australia
